Three US hubs

Which hub fits dresses and wovens

Dresses are pattern- and fit-heavy, so sampling matters more than for basics. That’s why the hub order differs from our knit pages.

Product, fabric, quantity and timing decide the factory first; the hub follows from that. You get the factory’s name and direct contact, and you can visit before you sign off a sample.

What a US-made dress costs

A US-made dress costs more at the factory than an imported one, with no ocean freight, customs or import duty on top. Here is what the calculator estimates today for a standard dress and a woven shirt.

What “full package” means

The factory buys the fabric, cuts, sews and adds standard trims, and quotes one price per piece at its door. Decoration, premium fabric, a complex build and shipping move the number; the cost calculator shows by how much. Silk or other luxury fabric, linings, bias cutting and hand finishing move you toward the top of each range.

Timeline · Dresses

From brief to delivery in 8–12 weeks

These timings apply to every product we place. For dresses, fit is the usual swing factor: plan for a second sample round if the pattern is new.

    Send the brief

Product, quantity, fabric, target cost and date. We reply within 24 hours and quote our fee in writing before any work starts.

  2. 3–5 working days

Tech pack, if you need one

Optional. $79 per style with 2–3 revision rounds. Skip it if your tech pack is ready.

  3. 2–4 weeks

    Sampling

A fit sample in your fabric (or a toile first for a new pattern). Approve fit, drape and finishing before bulk.

  4. 4–6 weeks

    Bulk production

Cutting, sewing, pressing and finishing after sample sign-off. We check the label wording before the first bulk run.

  5. 1–5 days

    Ground shipping

Straight from the factory to your door or warehouse in the lower 48. No port, no customs broker, no import duty.

First order: 8–12 weeks from brief to delivery.

Repeat orders skip sampling. Fabric availability is the usual swing factor, so name your fabric early.

FTC labelling · Dresses

What your dress label can say

“Made in USA” is a legal claim. For textiles the FTC looks one step back from the finished product, so the wording depends on where the fabric was woven or knitted and where the dress was cut and sewn.

Wovens: most fabrics are imported, and that’s fine

Silk, linen and many printed fabrics come from abroad, so many US-made dresses carry the imported-fabric wording. Naming the country is allowed: “Made in USA of fabric made in Italy”.

Label 01

Fabric made in the US

Fabric woven or knitted by a US mill, then cut and sewn by a US factory. This is the plain “Made in USA” label.

Common mistakeUsing this label on a dress sewn here from fabric woven overseas. The sewing is local, the fabric is not.

Label 02

Fabric made abroad

Cut and sewn here from imported fabric. “Made in USA of imported fabric” is correct too; naming the country is optional.

Common mistakeDropping the fabric qualifier on the product page because the label is inside the dress. The listing needs the origin too.

Plain-English summary, not legal advice. Source rules: the FTC’s textile labeling guide and Made in USA standard.

What to put in your dress brief

100 pieces per style. Put the size split and colorways in the brief and we only place you with factories that take that quantity.

The cost calculator currently estimates $31.20–$80.40 per piece at 100–300 units and $26.00–$67.00 at 300–500 units, full package, ex-factory, mid fabric and standard complexity. It’s an estimate: your quote depends on the factory, fabric, construction and tech pack.

No. This page is our service: you send one brief, and we place your dress with a US sample room and factory that already makes it. If you want to compare factories yourself, read our guide 8 best dress manufacturers in the USA or get all 80 in the US Factory Directory for $39.

Not plain “Made in USA”. A dress cut and sewn here from imported fabric must say “Made in USA of imported fabric” or name the country, for example “of fabric made in Italy”. We check the label and listing wording before the first bulk run.

For a first order, 8–12 weeks from brief to delivery: 2–4 weeks of sampling, 4–6 weeks of bulk production after you approve the sample, then 1–5 days of ground shipping in the lower 48. A new pattern may need a second sample round.

Not to send a brief: a sketch or photo is enough to start, and New York sample rooms can make the pattern. Factories quote tighter from a tech pack, though. Ours is $79 per style, delivered in 3–5 working days with 2–3 revision rounds.
