Three US hubs

Which hub fits socks

Socks are knitted to shape on circular sock machines, a different trade from cut and sew. That puts one hub far ahead of the others.

Cotton-modal jersey fabric

Product, fabric, quantity and timing decide the factory first; the hub follows from that. You get the factory’s name and direct contact, and you can visit before you sign off a sample.

    Where the mill stocks them.

What US-made socks cost

US-made socks cost more at the mill than imported ones, with no ocean freight, customs or import duty on top. Here is what the calculator estimates today, per pair, before packaging.

What “full package” means

The mill buys the yarn, knits, closes the toes, boards and pairs the socks, and quotes one price per pair at its door. Decoration, premium fabric, a complex build and shipping move the number; the cost calculator shows by how much. Merino or specialty yarns, many colors in a knitted-in design and retail packaging move you toward the top of each range.

Timeline · Socks

From brief to delivery in 8–12 weeks

These timings apply to every product we place. For socks, yarn colors are the usual swing factor: stock colors keep you at the short end.

  1. Day 1

    Send the brief

Product, quantity, fabric, target cost and date. We reply within 24 hours and quote our fee in writing before any work starts.

  2. 3–5 working days

Tech pack, if you need one

Optional. $79 per style with 2–3 revision rounds. Skip it if your tech pack is ready.

  3. 2–4 weeks

    Sampling

A knitted sample in your yarn, height and design. Approve size, stretch, the logo and colors before bulk.

  4. 4–6 weeks

    Bulk production

Knitting, toe closing, boarding and packaging after sample sign-off. We check the label wording before the first bulk run.

  5. 1–5 days

    Ground shipping

Straight from the factory to your door or warehouse in the lower 48. No port, no customs broker, no import duty.

First order: 8–12 weeks from brief to delivery.

Repeat orders skip sampling. Fabric availability is the usual swing factor, so name your fabric early.

FTC labelling · Socks

What your sock label can say

“Made in USA” is a legal claim. For textiles the FTC looks one step back from the finished product, so the wording depends on where the yarn was spun and where the socks were knitted.

Socks: yarn and knitting origin decide the wording

Socks are knitted to shape from yarn, so there’s no separate fabric step: the rule looks one step back, to the yarn. Where the yarn was spun decides the wording; where the fiber grew doesn’t have to appear.

Label 01

Knitted in the US from US yarn

Yarn spun in the US, socks knitted and finished by a US mill. This is the plain “Made in USA” label.

Common mistakeUsing this label on socks knitted here from imported yarn. The knitting is local, the yarn is not.

Label 02

Knitted in the US from imported yarn

Knitted here from yarn spun abroad. You may name the country instead: “Made in USA of yarn made in Italy”.

Common mistakeWriting “of imported fabric” on socks. There is no fabric step; the qualifier names the yarn.

Plain-English summary, not legal advice. Source rules: the FTC’s textile labeling guide and Made in USA standard.

100 pairs per style. Put the sizes, colors and design in the brief and we only place you with mills that take that quantity.

The cost calculator currently estimates $6.00–$12.00 per pair at 100–300 pairs and $5.00–$10.00 at 300–500 pairs, full package, ex-factory, mid fabric tier and standard complexity, before retail packaging. It’s an estimate: your quote depends on the mill, yarn and design.

Yes, if the yarn was spun in the US and the socks were knitted here. If the yarn was spun abroad, the label must say “Made in USA of imported yarn” (or name the country). The same wording goes on the packaging and the product page. We check it before the first bulk run.

Yes. Knitted-in (jacquard) logos and patterns are standard for sock mills; send the artwork and the number of colors. Very fine detail depends on the needle count, and the sample shows what is possible.

For a first order, 8–12 weeks from brief to delivery: 2–4 weeks of sampling, 4–6 weeks of bulk production after you approve the sample, then 1–5 days of ground shipping in the lower 48.

Not to send a brief: a photo of a sock you like, your logo and the list above are enough to start. For several styles or a detailed design, a tech pack keeps quotes comparable. Ours is $79 per style, delivered in 3–5 working days with 2–3 revision rounds.
