This hub vs the other two

The Carolinas, or another US hub?

The Carolinas are strongest for knits and usually lower on cut, make and trim, with less fashion sampling. Here is where they win and where another hub is the better call.

  • Pick New York instead if…

Your line needs fast sampling and careful patternmaking, or womenswear, dresses and wovens in short runs, and you can accept a higher sewing price.

Every factory we place you with is a drive or a domestic flight away. In the Carolinas, the knitting and the sewing are often close enough to see in one trip.

  • See the fabric before it’s cut. Check weight, hand-feel and color on the roll.
  • Fit session at the sample stage. Sign off fit and trims with the factory in the room.
  • Labels checked before the first run. We check origin wording against the FTC rules, so there is nothing to fix after delivery.

North and South Carolina are the center of US knit fabric: knitting mills, jersey and fleece, and North Carolina’s long history in hosiery and knit mills. It’s the hub for tees, fleece, socks and activewear knits, often with the fabric made close to the sewing floor.

It’s the most natural hub for it. A plain “Made in USA” label needs US-made fabric as well as US cutting and sewing, and Carolinas mills knit fabric here. If the fabric is imported, the label must say “Made in USA of imported fabric”. We check the label and product-page wording against the FTC rules before the first bulk run.

Cut, make and trim prices are often lower, especially for knit basics. The trade-off is less fashion sampling than in New York or Los Angeles. Your quote depends on fabric, construction and quantity, and our fee is quoted in writing before any work starts.

100 pieces per style in every product family, and 100 pairs per style for socks. More on sock manufacturing in the USA.

Tell us in the brief. Complex patterns and many fit rounds are where New York is stronger; knit basics, fleece and socks are where the Carolinas fit best. We place the brief where the product fits and say so if another hub is the better call.

By ground in 1–5 days to the lower 48. From the Carolinas, most of the East Coast is typically 1–2 days by ground. A first order typically takes 8–12 weeks from brief to delivery.
